Investigating artistic performance on high-speed research networks
Syneme
Bulgakov made a parallel between the Name and the icon: "The phoneme corresponds to the colours of the form of an icon, the morpheme to the hieroglyphic character of the original that provides the design for the representation. The syneme is the name itself, the energy of the representation." (from S. Bulgakov, La Philosophy du Verbe et du Nom, 1953).

"The syneme is the signal itself, the energy of the communication" (Syneme).
Syneme is the studio/lab of the Canada Research Chair in Telemedia arts. Syneme supports a new program of artistic practice enabled by high-speed fibre optic research links that afford multiple artist/participants to engage in real-time, high-definition, software supported tele-performances.
Syneme is located in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Calgary, supported by the Canada Research Chair program, SSHRC, NSERC, and CFI.
